Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: 2025-07-05

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No risk of flooding is expected. Tides will reach around 16.9 ft in the afternoon, and while barometric pressure is slightly lower (near 996–998 hPa), it remains above the critical low-pressure threshold of ~992.8 hPa. NOAA’s analysis indicates a 0.0% likelihood of flood conditions.

WHEN
Highest water levels will occur in the early-to-mid afternoon hours around 3:00 PM PDT but are not expected to reach flood levels.

IMPACTS
No significant flooding impacts are anticipated. Shoreline areas, piers, and low-lying sections of the beach may see normal tidal fluctuations without inundation concerns.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Compared to historical Category 3 events, the forecast tide heights are lower, and NOAA’s flood likelihood remains at 0%. Winds are generally light and not from the more concerning W/NW directions. Therefore, conditions do not resemble those of past moderate or severe flood events.

Day 2: 2025-07-06

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No risk of flooding is anticipated. Although tides may briefly approach 17.9 ft, barometric pressure (999–1001 hPa) is not low enough to significantly raise flood concerns. NOAA again projects a 0.0% flood likelihood.

WHEN
Minor tide peaks in mid-to-late afternoon. No flooding impacts expected at these water levels.

IMPACTS
Normal tidal fluctuations only. Coastal areas should remain unaffected by high water beyond standard high-tide conditions.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

While the maximum tide is higher than Day 1, the barometric pressure is still well above the critical low-pressure levels seen in historical flood events. NOAA’s modeling shows no indication of coastal flooding for this date.

Day 3: 2025-07-07

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No risk of flooding is forecast. Tides could approach around 18.5 ft late in the afternoon, but the barometric pressure (about 1004–1006 hPa) remains relatively stable, and NOAA’s official flood likelihood remains 0.0%.

WHEN
Late afternoon (around 4:30–5:00 PM PDT) is when tide levels will be highest, but still below thresholds associated with historical flood events.

IMPACTS
Little to no flooding concerns. Low-lying coastal zones can expect typical high-tide conditions without property damage or inundation.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Though the peak tide is somewhat high, it is still below past flood benchmarks, especially given the moderate pressure readings. No synergy exists between extremely low pressure and high tide that would typically elevate flood risk.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

CATEGORY KEY

• Categories 1-2: No risk of flooding.
• Category 3: Close to a flood event and worth monitoring.
• Category 4: Flooding is likely however, it is uncertain if this will cause major property damage.
• Category 5: Likely to flood and cause property damage.
• Categories 6-7: Extremely high risk of flooding and property damage.
