Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: 2026-01-16

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No flooding is expected, as tides will be moderately high (peaking near 19.6 ft) but barometric pressure will remain high (above 1026 hPa), reducing the likelihood of any coastal inundation.

WHEN
Minor higher water levels around early morning (approximately 05:12 AM) and again early afternoon.

IMPACTS
No risk of damage. Low-lying areas along the immediate shoreline may notice briefly elevated water levels but should not experience flooding.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• NOAA flood likelihood is very low (0.1%) with the water level still well below the minor flood threshold.
• Historically, higher flood risk events have coincided with significantly lower barometric pressures and/or tides exceeding 20 ft.
• Winds from the north to northeast at relatively low speeds further reduce the chance of flooding.

Day 2: 2026-01-17

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No flooding is expected. Tides will peak near 19.8 ft in the early morning and again in mid-afternoon, but very high barometric pressure around 1027–1032 hPa greatly minimizes any flood potential.

WHEN
Highest tides near 05:42 AM and 03:00 PM.

IMPACTS
No risk of damage. Residents may see slightly elevated water along the shoreline, but no significant flooding or inundation is anticipated.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• NOAA flood likelihood remains low (0.3%), with tide levels still below historical flooding ranges.
• Past Category 3–4 events often involved lower pressure readings (below ~1010 hPa) and tides exceeding 20 ft.
• Calm winds from various northerly directions add minimal onshore push.

Day 3: 2026-01-18

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No flooding is expected. Although the peak tide may reach around 19.9 ft in the early morning, the barometric pressure will remain unusually high (near or above 1034 hPa).

WHEN
Elevated water levels around 06:00–06:30 AM, with another moderate peak late afternoon to evening.

IMPACTS
No risk of damage. Conditions will not cause flooding, and the coastline should remain stable during these tide cycles.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• NOAA flood likelihood for this day is at 0.6%, still well below thresholds observed in past flood events.
• High barometric pressure offsets the moderately high tide levels.
• Light or calm winds from northerly directions provide little added coastal surge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
