Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: 2025-03-14

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No risk of coastal flooding is expected. Tides will be relatively high (around 19 feet), but barometric pressure is significantly elevated compared to historical flood events, and NOAA reports a 0% flood likelihood.

WHEN
Highest tides are expected around 05:12 AM and again around 05:06 PM on 2025-03-14.

IMPACTS
No flooding impacts are anticipated. Normal tidal fluctuations may cause slight water level increases along the shoreline, but they are not expected to inundate low-lying areas.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Despite the tide heights reaching the higher teens, the barometric pressure is much higher than what has historically coincided with flood events (well above 992.8 hPa). NOAA’s official forecast indicates a 0% risk of flooding for 2025-03-14. All factors, including wind speeds and directions, remain moderate and do not indicate conditions favorable for flooding.

Day 2: 2025-03-15

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No risk of coastal flooding is expected, with tide heights near 19.2 feet and continued high barometric pressure readings. NOAA again indicates a 0% flood likelihood.

WHEN
Highest tide is expected around 05:30 AM on 2025-03-15.

IMPACTS
No property or roadway flooding is expected. Minor rises in water level may occur but will remain below flood thresholds.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Although the tide is relatively high, past Category 3 or higher flood events typically featured lower barometric pressures and/or taller tides. Here, pressures remain well above 1000 hPa, diminishing any serious flood concern. NOAA’s data also confirms a very low flood threat.

Day 3: 2025-03-16

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No risk of coastal flooding is expected. Tide heights will peak near 19.1 feet and 17–18 feet through the day, but barometric pressure remains elevated. NOAA’s data continues to show a 0% flood likelihood.

WHEN
Highest tides occur around 05:48 AM and again around 06:36 PM on 2025-03-16.

IMPACTS
No flooding impacts are expected for coastal areas. Access roads, parks, and low-lying areas along the shoreline should remain largely unaffected.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Even though the tide heights are in the upper teens, the pressure (around 1021.7 hPa) is still notably higher than the low-pressure conditions seen in prior moderate or severe flood events. With no significant winds predicted from the more flood-prone directions and NOAA indicating low flood odds, conditions favor no coastal inundation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

CATEGORY KEY

Categories 1-2: No risk of flooding.
Category 3: Close to a flood event and worth monitoring.
Category 4: Flooding is likely however, it is uncertain if this will cause major property damage.
Category 5: Likely to flood and cause property damage.
Categories 6-7: Extremely high risk of flooding and property damage.
