Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: 2025-03-19

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No flooding is expected. Although tides will be relatively high (around 18 ft), the barometric pressure is not low enough to raise significant concerns, and NOAA’s forecast indicates a 0% flood likelihood.

WHEN
Higher tides in the early morning hours near 07:00 AM PDT.

IMPACTS
No adverse flooding impacts anticipated. Routine tides may briefly cover very low-lying shore areas, but no damage or notable flooding is predicted.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Barometric pressure readings (~1009-1010 hPa) remain well above the critical range historically linked to coastal flood events. Compared with past Category 3 or higher events, these tide levels and pressures rank lower in flood risk, and NOAA has indicated a minimal chance of flooding (0.0%).

Day 2: 2025-03-20

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No flooding is expected. Despite slightly lower barometric pressure (down to ~1000.95 hPa), the high tides are still below flood-triggering thresholds, and NOAA’s flood likelihood remains at 0%.

WHEN
Two higher tides around 07:30 AM and late evening near 10:00 PM PDT.

IMPACTS
Minimal or no flooding impacts. Low-lying areas along the immediate shoreline may see ordinary tidal inundation, but no property damage or notable disruptions are expected.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

While the barometric pressure is lower than on Day 1, the tide heights (17–18 ft range) are still well below 20–21 ft levels typically observed in more significant flood scenarios. Historical Category 3–4 events had either higher tides or lower pressures (or both). NOAA again forecasts a 0% chance for flooding.

Day 3: 2025-03-21

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
No flooding is expected. Tides remain under 18 ft, and although the barometric pressure may briefly dip below 1000 hPa, neither factor aligns with past moderate or major flood conditions.

WHEN
Highest tide late at night, near or just before midnight.

IMPACTS
No substantial flooding concerns. Minor water level increases may affect the immediate shoreline, but no measurable flooding or damage is anticipated.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Even though the pressure is somewhat lower (around 999 hPa) compared to Days 1 and 2, the tides are not near the 20–21 ft range typically seen in historical Category 3 or higher flood events. NOAA again indicates a 0% flood likelihood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

CATEGORY KEY

Categories 1-2: No risk of flooding.
Category 3: Close to a flood event and worth monitoring.
Category 4: Flooding is likely however, it is uncertain if this will cause major property damage.
Category 5: Likely to flood and cause property damage.
Categories 6-7: Extremely high risk of flooding and property damage.
