Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: 2025-04-14

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
Overall conditions indicate no notable flood risk. Although the evening high tide will approach approximately 18.5 ft at around 6:36 PM, the barometric pressure is relatively moderate (near 1006 hPa), and NOAA’s flood likelihood forecast remains at 0%.

WHEN
From late afternoon through early evening (roughly 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM).

IMPACTS
No significant flooding impacts. Low-lying roads and shorelines are expected to remain clear of coastal inundation under these conditions.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• Compared to historical Category 3 events, barometric pressure is higher and NOAA’s analysis predicts no flood potential.
• Winds from the north at moderate speeds (approximately 9–15 mph) further reduce any chance of storm surge.
• No other mitigating factors (such as heavy rainfall) are present that would elevate risk.

Day 2: 2025-04-15

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
Another day of minimal flood risk. The highest tide (around 7:18 PM) may reach approximately 18.6 ft. However, the barometric pressure near 1007.8 hPa remains well above critical thresholds, and NOAA’s outlook continues to be 0% flood likelihood.

WHEN
Late evening high tide period (roughly 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM).

IMPACTS
No flooding is anticipated. Shoreline areas and local roads should remain unaffected by high tide levels under these stable pressure conditions.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• Historical comparisons show significantly higher tides (above 20 ft) and notably lower pressure were present in past Category 4–5 events. Those conditions are absent here.
• Winds remain generally from the north/northwest at modest speeds, not conducive to pushing additional water inland.

Day 3: 2025-04-16

CATEGORY 2

WHAT
Though the barometric pressure is forecast to dip slightly nearer 1002.9 hPa by the evening high tide (around 8:00 PM), tides are expected to be below the typical 20 ft+ thresholds found in more serious events. NOAA still projects a 0% chance of flooding.

WHEN
Highest risk period is from about 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM around the peak high tide.

IMPACTS
No significant impacts expected. Low-lying areas along the coast should not experience flooding, and no property damage is anticipated.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• While this is the lowest barometric pressure of the three days, it remains well above historically damaging storm pressures (below ~993 hPa).
• Forecast tide heights (near 18.6 ft) remain below those tied to more significant coastal flood events in Redondo Beach.
• Consistent with NOAA’s “Low” flood likelihood, there is no observed sign of a rapidly developing coastal surge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

CATEGORY KEY

Categories 1-2: No risk of flooding.
Category 3: Close to a flood event and worth monitoring.
Category 4: Flooding is likely however, it is uncertain if this will cause major property damage.
Category 5: Likely to flood and cause property damage.
Categories 6-7: Extremely high risk of flooding and property damage.
