Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: May 13, 2025

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
Close to a flood event and worth monitoring, but unlikely to cause notable property damage. The highest tide is forecast to reach around 19.08 ft in the evening.

WHEN
Greatest potential concern near high tide time frames, particularly around 04:00 AM and again near 06:42 PM.

IMPACTS
Minor flooding of low-lying areas is possible. Brief ponding or isolated roadway impacts could occur near the shoreline, but widespread damage is not expected.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Barometric pressures at these high tide peaks are around 995.6 hPa early in the morning and 1005.6 hPa in the evening—both notably higher than the significantly low barometric pressures seen in past severe flooding. Winds are modest, further lessening the chance of major flood impacts. Historical Category 3 events in this range also support the assessment that any flood risk is minor, though continued monitoring is advised.

Day 2: May 14, 2025

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
Close to a flood event and worth watching, with evening high tides near or just under 19.22 ft. Not expected to cause substantial property damage.

WHEN
Mainly around the midday and late evening high tides (approximately 02:30 PM and after 07:00 PM).

IMPACTS
Minor flooded spots in low-lying coastal locations are possible, but no significant damage is anticipated.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Barometric pressure is holding above 1004 hPa during the highest tide. With such relatively elevated pressure compared to major flood events, the risk remains moderate but not severe. Winds remain moderate. Conditions align with prior Category 3 scenarios where caution is warranted, yet large-scale flooding is unlikely.

Day 3: May 15, 2025

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
Still close to a flood threshold with tides near 19.24 ft. Flooding impacts remain limited, but worth monitoring if conditions change.

WHEN
The early morning (around 05:00 AM) and early evening (just before 08:00 PM) high tide cycles.

IMPACTS
Localized low-lying areas at or just above water level may experience minor inundation, but more notable flood damage is unlikely.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Barometric pressure near 1001–1002 hPa is lower than Day 1 and Day 2 but still well above values typically associated with severe coastal flooding (below ~992.8 hPa). Winds remain modest. Historically, tides in the 19-foot range, paired with barometric pressures above 992.8 hPa, have resulted in only minor coastal impacts. This continues to match a Category 3 pattern.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
