Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: 2025-06-01

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
High tide near 19.58 ft is expected late this evening around 22:24, with a moderate barometric pressure of approximately 1001.37 hPa. Winds near 10 mph from a northerly direction are not expected to amplify water levels significantly.

WHEN
From around 9:00 PM to 11:30 PM PST, during the evening high tide.

IMPACTS
Minor splash-over or flooding could occur along extremely low-lying areas. Widespread or serious property damage is not anticipated, but conditions should be monitored closely.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

NOAA indicates a 0.0% flood likelihood for June 1. Although the tide is fairly high, the pressure is not unusually low, and winds remain moderate. Historical Category 3 events have had tides in a similar range with moderate-to-higher pressures than the most significant flood incidents.

Day 2: 2025-06-02

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
A late-evening high tide reaching around 19.35 ft near 23:06 coincides with a relatively low barometric pressure of roughly 994.23 hPa. However, wind speeds remain moderate (generally around 10 mph from the north), which reduces the potential for major flooding.

WHEN
From about 10:00 PM to midnight PST.

IMPACTS
Minor coastal flooding in the most flood-prone areas is possible. No major property damage is expected, but brief inundation of low-lying roads or coastal pathways cannot be ruled out.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

Comparisons to historical Category 4 flood events show higher wind speeds and/or lower pressures typically contributed to more extensive flooding. In this case, although the pressure is somewhat low, the tide is not exceeding 20 ft, winds are moderate, and NOAA continues to forecast a 0.0% flood likelihood for June 2.

Day 3: 2025-06-03

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
An evening high tide, peaking near or just above 19 ft late in the day, overlaps with a barometric pressure in the mid- to upper-990s hPa range (approx. 995.62 hPa noted in the morning). This combination may cause minor localized flooding but is unlikely to cause severe property damage.

WHEN
From roughly 9:00 PM to midnight PST, coinciding with the highest tidal levels.

IMPACTS
Minor impacts to low-lying shore areas, with minimal intrusion onto coastal roads or walkways possible. Major damage is not expected.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

All three days show tidal heights in the upper teens, but NOAA's flood likelihood remains at 0.0%. Past Category 3 flooding events have exhibited similar tide ranges where conditions approached, yet did not cross, thresholds typically associated with more severe flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

CATEGORY KEY

Categories 1-2: No risk of flooding.
Category 3: Close to a flood event and worth monitoring.
Category 4: Flooding is likely however, it is uncertain if this will cause major property damage.
Category 5: Likely to flood and cause property damage.
Categories 6-7: Extremely high risk of flooding and property damage.
