Flood Watch

Redondo Beach, WA

Day 1: 2025-06-12

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
Coastal water levels will be elevated, with a peak tide near 19.5 ft in the evening. Barometric pressure of around 1005 hPa is moderately low but not low enough to indicate severe conditions. Minor flooding is possible along shorelines; however, significant property damage is not expected.

WHEN
Highest concern around the early-morning (03:54) and evening (19:12) high tides.

IMPACTS
• Ponding of water in low-lying coastal areas, parking lots, and near beach access points.
• Very limited road impacts possible, but widespread flooding is not anticipated.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• Historical comparison shows similar barometric readings (near 1006–1008 hPa) in past Category 3 events.
• Although the tide crest (around 19.5 ft) is notable, it does not exceed the 20+ ft levels often associated with more severe flooding.
• Wind speeds remain relatively low, reducing onshore wave action.

Day 2: 2025-06-13

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
Tides will again reach around 19.6 ft in the evening, with a barometric pressure near 1002 hPa. Conditions remain close to flood thresholds but are unlikely to cause major damage.

WHEN
Critical water levels in the pre-dawn (around 04:36) and near 19:42 in the evening.

IMPACTS
• Water may approach the top of shoreline barriers in places.
• Minor overwash in typically vulnerable areas, but no major structural flooding is anticipated.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• Compared to historical Category 4 events, the barometric pressure is not as low as 992 hPa or below, and tide levels are under 20 ft.
• Wind speeds are expected to stay under 15 mph, limiting added surge or wave impacts.

Day 3: 2025-06-14

CATEGORY 3

WHAT
A near-peak tide potentially reaching about 19.7 ft during the late evening, with barometric pressure dropping to around 998 hPa. Still below the more critical thresholds for severe flooding.

WHEN
Elevated tides likely near 05:18 and more prominently around 20:18.

IMPACTS
• Brief episodes of nuisance flooding along coastal pathways.
• Generally confined to very low-lying areas, with no significant property damage expected.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

• Although pressure is moderately lower (around 998 hPa), the tide height remains under the higher-risk 20–21 ft mark observed in previous Category 4 or 5 events.
• Winds remain below 15 mph, further limiting coastal surge potential.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

CATEGORY KEY

Categories 1-2: No risk of flooding.
Category 3: Close to a flood event and worth monitoring.
Category 4: Flooding is likely however, it is uncertain if this will cause major property damage.
Category 5: Likely to flood and cause property damage.
Categories 6-7: Extremely high risk of flooding and property damage.
