SMS program
By providing your mobile number through the signup form, you agree to receive recurring automated SMS messages from Redondo Beach Flood Watch (redondobeachwa.com) when a flood risk of Category 3 or higher is forecast for Redondo Beach, WA.
- Frequency: variable, driven by weather. Most months see zero messages; a stormy winter month may see two or three.
- Cost: message and data rates from your carrier may apply. We do not charge you.
- Carrier: we use Twilio to deliver messages. Supported US carriers include AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most regional carriers.
- Opt-out: reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe immediately. Reply HELP to get the contact email.
Privacy
See the privacy page for how we store your number and email. Short version: a private Google Sheet the operator can see, used only to send alerts.
No guarantee
Flood forecasts are inherently uncertain. This project runs on a best-effort basis and provides no guarantee that every flood event will be caught, nor that every alert will be followed by a flood. Do not rely on it as your sole source of emergency information — monitor the National Weather Service and local authorities during any significant weather event.
